Description

This photograph is of the main building of the Berwick Fire Station as it looked around the turn of the century. The main building is the home of the Triumph, the name of the handtub fire engine located inside of this building. The construction date of this building is unknown.

To the left of the main building is the Marble Works. On the right side, behind the B&M (Boston & Maine) railroad car, are the stores across the Salmon Falls River, in Somersworth New Hampshire. The building on the extreme right of the photograph is part of Grants Hotel.

Posing in front of the main building are the members of the volunteer Triumph Engine No. 1 Company who are unidentified. This company was organized in 1873.
