Description

This view of Berwick shows the bridge between Berwick Maine and Somersworth New Hampshire. Shown on the bridge is the Drum and Bugle Corps based out of Berwick parading into Somersworth. The building to the far left of the photograph was a harness and robe shop which also served as a laundry, restaurant, and lastly a grocery store in later years.

The white building beyond that was an early grocery store and later served as Berwicks first Post Office. Beyond that the brick building, known as the Worster House, was a personal residence at the time of the photograph but later housed Bell's Hardware.

The large building to the right is Grants Hotel, established in 1874, which went on to house an insurance agency, restaurant, and barber shop in turn, but was destroyed by fire in the late 1930s.
